The 3-Tier System

People often ask what all is involved in beer distribution and/or why do we need distributors. Beer distributors provide transportation and accountability for perishable beer to ensure the product is safe for consumption.

The licensing requirements create an orderly marketplace that is transparent to reduce the likelihood that the product is consumed by minors and to facilitate proper tax collections.
The competition among distributors provides a great amount of variety and value to the consumer. In addition, beer distributors are local members of the community, supporting numerous civic activities and charities. As a result of the unique nature of alcohol, the Constitution of the United States establishes under the 21st Amendment special laws to be regulated by each state to ensure that beer is made, distributed, and sold responsibly. Beer distributors are a key part of the value chain.
